MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (AP) - A man already doing a 20-year sentence in an Illinois prison for drug trafficking is now accused in the 2010 shooting death of a teenager in Mount Vernon.

Prosecutors in Jefferson County on Tuesday charged 27-year-old Marventi Palmer with first-degree murder.

Authorities allege Palmer had a role in the August 2010 death of 15-year-old Deon Feggins.

Feggins died at a hospital after being found shot multiple times on a street.

Palmer is serving a 20-year sentence in the Shawnee Correctional Center at Vienna related to a Jefferson County drug-trafficking conviction.

Online court records don’t show whether he has an attorney.
