ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (AP) - Western Illinois authorities say a missing Rock Island man likely died from cold exposure.
The Rock Island Argus reports (https://bit.ly/1dy1HYn ) a preliminary autopsy shows 43-year-old Steven Califf died from hypothermia.
His body was found Monday afternoon along the shores of the Mississippi River.
Rock Island County Coroner Brian Gustafson says Califf often hiked in the area.
He was reported missing Jan. 7, days after he left his home in Rock Island for an appointment.
Authorities say their investigation into his death is continuing.
