COVINGTON, La. (AP) - A 46-year-old Covington man with previous drug and robbery convictions was sentenced to life in prison after a state district judge found him to be a career criminal.

The Time-Picayune reports (https://bit.ly/1dRF1bK) Clifton Daigle Jr. was arrested last May after a traffic stop in St. Tammany Parish.

The district attorney’s office says deputies found a syringe, a spoon with heroin residue and a shotgun in the vehicle/



In November, a 12-person jury found Daigle guilty of heroin possession. The district attorney’s office filed a multiple offender bill of information against Daigle, and on Tuesday state District Judge William Knight sentenced him to life in prison.
