AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - A former employee at an organization that promotes tourism in Maine has been charged with embezzling more than $10,000 from the group.
Ronald Brann of West Gardiner, a former finance and human resources manager at the Hallowell-based Maine Tourism Association, is charged with theft by unauthorized taking.
Prosecutors tell the Kennebec Journal (https://bit.ly/1hNO8cN) the 44-year-old Brann took the money between July 1, 2010 and July 20, 2012, when he left the organization for another job at a school district. He hasn’t been arrested but has been summoned to court on Tuesday.
The 1,600-member association first noticed “financial irregularities” and hired an outside auditor. Results of the audit were turned over to law enforcement.
Attempts to reach Brann were unsuccessful.
