COLLINS, Miss. (AP) - Authorities say a 65-year-old Collins man was killed in a mobile home fire.

Collins Fire Department Chief John Pope says firefighters responded to the blaze at 9:35 p.m. Tuesday and found the body of Charles McLaurin inside his mobile home.

Pope tells The Hattiesburg American (https://hatne.ws/1mJZYaX) McLaurin died from smoke inhalation.

He was the only occupant of the home.

Pope said officials from the Collins Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office investigated the site late Tuesday night.

He says the fire, caused by an improperly wired electric space heater, was ruled accidental.
