GORHAM, Maine (AP) - A three-hour standoff with an armed member of a University of Southern Maine fraternity who entered his house and threatened to shoot other members has ended peacefully.
Authorities say 23-year-old Alan-Michael Santos, of Winchester, Mass., entered the off-campus Sigmu Nu fraternity in Gorham at about 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Police surrounded the fraternity at about 8:30 p.m. and the house was evacuated. Santos barricaded himself in a room until surrendering at about 11:30 p.m.
No one was hurt.
Police tell school spokesman Robert Caswell that Santos appeared intoxicated.
Santos was charged with criminal threatening with a firearm and causing a police standoff. He is being held at the Cumberland County Jail and is expected to be arraigned Friday.
It’s not clear if he has a lawyer.
