ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A carpenter helping build a Matanuska Electric Association generating station was critically injured in a weekend accident.
The injury was announced Tuesday by Haskell Constructors, which is helping build the Eklutna Generation Station.
Haskell spokesman Ray Pierce tells KTUU-TV (https://bit.ly/1f4g1N6) that the injured worker was one of two carpenters installing trim Saturday on a 10-by-14-foot rollup door.
Another worker was standing on a collapsible “man-lift” aerial platform raised 4 feet off the ground.
The aerial platform rolled and pinned the injured man between the platform and the door.
Pierce says the worker underwent surgery to relieve pressure on his chest.
The Alaska Occupational Safety and Health was notified of the incident.
Pierce says the company stopped work at the site Saturday and Tuesday.
