RENO, Nev. (AP) - Reno police say they nabbed five men who tried to solicit prostitutes over the Internet.
Authorities with the Regional Street Enforcement Team said late Tuesday that they posted an ad on a popular website, pretending to be a woman offering sex acts for money.
Detectives say they started receiving calls and texts from would-be customers within a minute of posting the ad.
Officials say they cited or arrested five men for soliciting prostitution.
A separate operation targeted women who were offering sex for money on websites. Police say three females were cited or arrested for negotiating deals with an undercover detective.
Street Enforcement Team officials say they hope their frequent sting operations will deter people from offering or soliciting prostitution.
