NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) - A central New Jersey man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for the fatal shooting of a teenage boy nearly three years ago.
Acting Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey says Jorge Borrero of Carteret must serve about 16 years before he becomes eligible for parole. He also will have to serve five years of supervised release once he’s freed from prison.
The 21-year-old Borrero had pleaded guilty last November to aggravated manslaughter and weapons offenses stemming from the February 2011 shooting of Malcolm Harvey, a 17-year-old Carteret resident who lived in the same neighborhood as Borrero.
A motive for the shooting has not disclosed.
