PHOENIX (AP) - A man accused in an armed robbery at a Glendale mall with his wife has pleaded not guilty in the case.

Maricopa County prosecutors say 35-year-old Michael John Hough entered his plea Wednesday at his arraignment. His next scheduled court date is March 11.

Hough and 33-year-old wife Shaashana Marie Hough were arrested for allegedly trying to shoplift a drill Jan. 3 from a Sears store at the Arrowhead Towne Center.

As an unarmed loss-prevention officer tried to detain them, Shaashana Hough allegedly drew a handgun from a backpack and pointed it at the officer.

The couple fled on a motorcycle which police later recovered at an apartment complex.

Michael Hough was arraigned on an armed robbery charge while Shaashana Hough is accused of armed robbery and aggravated assault.
