LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) - A devoted dog who apparently stayed in the woods for more than a day, barking to draw attention to his owner who died in the snow, needs a new home.

The family of 61-year-old Claudine Murphy, a Lancaster County woman who likely died of hypothermia, is trying to find a good home for the mixed yellow Labrador named Chase.

The Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era (https://bit.ly/KI8RmD) said a neighbor saw Murphy walking Saturday afternoon with Chase. She was found Sunday evening, some 30 hours later, by a neighbor who heard Chase barking and found him with the body.

The paper says a neighbor, Nancy Althouse, runs an informal animal rescue operation called United Rescue Effort and was a friend of the victim. She is handling inquiries from potential adopters.
