MORRISON, Colo. (AP) - The gunman in a shooting at a home in the Jefferson County foothills was a soldier who served in the Army for seven years.

Relatives and authorities say 25-year-old Robert Leiman shot and killed his stepmother, 53-year-old Margaret Leiman, and wounded his father, 58-year-old Bruce Leiman, during a fight Tuesday. He also fired multiple shots into the room where his 24-year-old stepsister was hiding before killing himself.

Investigators say she hid in a closet talking with dispatchers until sheriff’s deputies arrived.

The gunman’s grandfather, Kenneth Leiman, told The Denver Post (https://bit.ly/1bhVdx7 ) that he was a “fine lad”, noting his military service.

Records show that the gunman was deployed to Iraq for one month in 2011.

Leiman said his son is expected to recover.
