SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - A district attorney investigating a state police officer who shot and killed a Santa Fe woman says she’s surprised a grand jury ruled the shooting was justified.

The Santa Fe New Mexican reports (https://goo.gl/sQB5ZK) that First Judicial District Attorney Angela “Spence” Pacheco said Tuesday she presented a full day of testimony from multiple sources, and within 50 minutes, the grand jury made its decision.

A Santa Fe County grand jury last week found that state police officer Oliver Wilson was justified when he shot and killed 39-year-old Jeanette Anaya after a high-speed chase in November.

The decision comes as New Mexico State Police Department has drawn fire for investigating its own officer-involved shootings in most counties.

Pacheco says she did not see anything improper about the state police investigation.
