TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) - The policy committee for the board of Northwestern Michigan College is recommending against making recordings of its meetings after many years of relying on written notes.
The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports (https://bit.ly/1msdA7E ) the committee met Tuesday and the opinion likely will be presented to the full board Monday.
The college board doesn’t use audio or video recordings. The board has discussed recording its meetings several times in the past. Committee members opposed electronic recording because they said most other state community colleges don’t make such records.
Board members considered recording meetings after the college spent around $80,000 on a failed August special election on funding. School officials said they couldn’t remember whether putting the issue on the regular November ballot at no cost had been discussed at an April meeting.
