NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) - New Britain police have named an officer who was seriously injured when he was run over by a stolen car, and authorities are continuing to search for the driver.
Police Chief James Wardwell identified the officer Tuesday as 28-year-old Brett Morgan, who has been with the department for about a year after having served as a police officer in Northampton, Mass. Morgan underwent nine hours of surgery Monday and is expected to make a full recovery.
A state judge has signed an arrest warrant for 19-year-old Jaheem Snype of New Britain in connection with the hit-and-run.
Police say Morgan was struck by the stolen car and dragged nearly 100 feet Sunday night. The car was found a few miles away Monday, and police are seeking a search warrant for it.
