Police say Huntington woman’s death is homicide

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - Police are investigating the death of a Huntington woman whose body was found over an embankment.

Cabell County Sheriff Tom McComas tells media outlets that a Lincoln County man found 21-year-old Diane Lee Bess’ body along W.Va. Route 10 on Friday. The scene is about 10 miles south of Huntington.

McComas says Bess’ death is being investigated as a homicide. He declined to disclose the cause of death.

Bess was last seen leaving her mother’s residence on Dec. 24, 2013. McComas says investigators do not when or where Bess died.

The sheriff’s department and Huntington police are investigating.
