ERIE, Pa. (AP) - A woman has sued a residential treatment center run by Catholic nuns in northwestern Pennsylvania, claiming its “growth and change” therapeutic philosophy violates her beliefs as a Jehovah’s Witness.

The Erie Times-News (https://bit.ly/LNcF6R ) reports Sharon Shepherd has filed the federal lawsuit against Gannondale, where she was fired from her job as a bookkeeper in June.

Shepherd claims that happened because she believes in “predetermination” - which she does not otherwise define in her lawsuit - but contends it as odds with the center’s treatment philosophy.

Gannondale is run by the Sister of Our Lady of Charity, and is a treatment center for women who are court-ordered to live there.

An attorney for the center declined comment on the lawsuit, saying he has yet to receive the complaint.
