NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - New Haven police are trying to identify suspects in the city’s first homicide of 2014.

Police say 20-year-old Durrell Patrick Law was shot to death in broad daylight Monday afternoon in the eastern side of the city. A nurse who just happened to be in the area treated Law, but he later died at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Residents in the Eastern Street neighborhood say they heard two loud booms at around 1 p.m. Police say Law ran from a parking lot and collapsed in the street when the nurse was passing by.

Police haven’t announced any arrests or a motive. They’re asking for the public’s help in finding the shooter and any accomplices.
