FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Fayetteville police say two people have been shot and killed at an apartment complex.

Lt. Todd Joyce says the shooting happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. Monday.

Joyce says the residents of an apartment answered the door and were confronted by a suspect who shot them after a brief conversation.

Both residents were taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where they died.

The names of the victims have not been released.

Police say they have not identified the shooter but say the shootings were not a random act.
