OWEGO, N.Y. (AP) - A home in central New York has been destroyed by fire that spread from a propane tank explosion in a nearby pickup truck.
It happened Saturday afternoon in Owego, about 20 miles west of Binghamton. Fire officials tell local media outlets that firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle fire and found that two propane tanks in the truck had exploded and the flames had spread to a nearby house.
The resident, a man in his eighties, escaped the house safely with his dog.
Four local fire departments were on the scene for nearly three hours. The home was a total loss.
