WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Police say they arrested a convicted felon from Wilmington after he led an officer on a vehicle pursuit while wearing body armor and with two loaded guns in his car.
Police say an officer spotted 24-year-old Deontay Willingham driving on a suspended license around 2:15 a.m. Thursday and tried to pull him over in the 1000 block of Spruce Street. Police say Willingham didn’t stop and the officer chased him until he crashed into a telephone pole in the 900 block of E. 12th Street.
Police then took Willingham into custody, saw he was wearing body armor and found two weapons in the car he was driving, a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu.
Willingham is being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after he failed to post $251,500 cash bail. He did not have a listed phone number.
