NEW YORK (AP) - Police have charged a 28-year-old New York City man with driving with a suspended or revoked license after he struck a woman who was walking across a street.

Police say Saturday Abel Tinoco was charged with aggravated unlicensed operator following the 11:20 a.m. accident in Queens.

They say Tinoco was driving a black Mitsubishi Montero that turned left onto Grand Avenue in the Elmhurst neighborhood, striking 68-year-old Angela Hurtado as she was crossing the street.

They say emergency workers rushed Hurtado to Elmhurst Hospital Center where she was declared dead.

Tinoco stayed at the scene after the accident. He was in custody and unavailable for comment. It wasn’t clear if he had an attorney.
