DETROIT (AP) - Two people have been arrested after the death of a 4-year-old Detroit boy who was accidentally shot by his 4-year-old cousin.
Police are calling the death of Jamel Witcher Jr. a tragic accident. He was shot in the chest Thursday after his cousin picked up the gun near a bed while they were watching television.
The death was declared a homicide after an autopsy Saturday.
Detroit police Sgt. Mike Woody tells The Detroit News that a woman in the home was arrested on a warrant unrelated to the case. He says a man was arrested for being an ex-convict who possessed a gun.
Jamel’s mother, Adrian Tubbs, tells the Detroit Free Press that her son and his cousin were very close, almost like twins.
