MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Augustine Rubit scored 21 points and went 7 of 10 from the field as South Alabama snapped a six-game losing streak and held on for an 81-73 win over Louisiana-Lafayette on Thursday night.
Ken Williams added 18 points, Aakim Saintil 15 and Antoine Allen 12 for South Alabama (7-11, 1-4 Sun Belt), which shot 59.2 percent from the field.
The Rajin’ Cajuns (11-6, 2-2) went on a late 11-3 run to cut their deficit to 69-67 with 2:23 left, but South Alabama then scored eight straight points.
Louisiana-Lafayette shot 38.7 percent from the field and had 12 shots blocked by the Jaguars. Rubit accounted for five of the blocks.
Elfrid Payton led Louisiana-Lafayette with 18 points while Shawn Long added 15.
