LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Nebraska officials have approved a bonus point system for general bull elk permits.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission says the new system, which begins this year, will improve the chance of a person drawing a permit if they’ve been unsuccessful in the past.
The system lets the person accrue a bonus point each time they don’t get a permit. In subsequent years, he or she will get an additional entry into the permit drawing for each bonus point they have.
The commission made the decision during a meeting Friday. A preference point system is already used for landowner elk permits.
