ROANOKE, Va. (AP) - Virginia alcohol regulators are giving bars and restaurants more freedom to promote happy hour.
The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control announced Thursday final approval of proposed changes in how establishments can promote the after-work hours when bars and restaurants typically offer drink deals.
The Roanoke Times (https://bit.ly/Lo9frc) reports that the changes will allow establishments more latitude to market their drink specials. Now, they can only promote happy hour inside their businesses or on a small sign outside the business.
Virginia is one of only a handful of states that restrict happy hour ads.
Promoting specific happy hour drink prices and specials will still be restricted.
The changes kick in on Jan. 29.
