ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Anchorage police have issued $90,000 in fines to a handful of local businesses and homeowners who made too many calls to police last year.

KTUU (https://is.gd/6BcEtg) says 10 locations are receiving the fines. Of those, eight are homes.

The police department charges $500 for each response considered excessive. The limit for homes is eight calls a year and 100 calls for businesses.

Responses to sexual assaults, domestic violence or serious medical emergencies do not count as excessive.
