FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - Residents who live northwest of Fort Collins say thieves have stolen checks and credit cards from their mail.
The Larimer County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday thieves have bought things with the credit cards, and they’ve altered and cashed some of the checks.
Sheriff’s spokesman John Schulz says 15 or 16 residents and businesses have reported mail thefts. They began 10 days to two weeks ago.
Schulz says one of the victims is Canyon Utilities, a trash and recycling business in Poudre Canyon. Officials asked residents who have recently mailed payments to the company to check to make sure they arrived.
