WILTON, Maine (AP) - State police say a Readfield woman whose car broke down on a remote road on the Wilton-Chesterville town line was stabbed by a man she thought had stopped to help her.
Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the assailant they think was driving a white Chevrolet pickup truck.
Police say the 33-year-old woman broke down at about 9:15 p.m. Monday. The other driver stopped and assaulted the woman, stabbing her in the arm.
He left the scene when she put up a struggle.
Police say the woman was able to start her car and drove herself to a hospital where she was treated and released.
The assailant is described as about 5-foot-10, with a slender build, a goatee and wearing a bomber hat.
