GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - A Peoria man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a cab driver in Glendale more than 13 years ago.

Authorities say 32-year-old Michael Wayne Bentley was taken into custody last month by Peoria police.

They say his fingerprints matched latent prints lifted from a recovered carjacking vehicle from June 2000.

That helped Glendale police develop probable cause to arrest Bentley as a suspect in the unsolved homicide case.

Glendale police say 50-year-old Malcolm Gomes was found outside his taxi on June 2, 2000. He had been shot and later died from his wounds.

A man seen running from the scene matched the description of someone involved in an armed carjacking later in Glendale.

Police determined the crimes were related, but the case then went cold.
