HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (AP) - The mother of an armed Orange County man shot and killed by a police officer has filed a $75,000 claim against the city of Huntington Beach.
The Orange County Register (https://bit.ly/1eJhEQg ) reported Tuesday that Sheila Marquez says her son, Eric Marquez, was unjustly shot and killed by officers during a confrontation. She wants to be compensated for wrongful death and other damages.
The 26-year-old Orange resident died at the scene last August.
Sheila Marquez says in her claim that her son “did not pose a risk of death or serious bodily injury to any person.”
Investigators say witness accounts and evidence collected at the scene show Eric Marquez fired multiple shots at the officer.
