MIAMI (AP) - A South Florida man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for killing an older man he met through an online dating website.
As part of a deal with Miami-Dade County prosecutors, 20-year-old Dwayne Lebarr Jr. pleaded guilty Wednesday to second-degree murder, armed robbery and burglary with a battery.
Authorities say Lebarr strangled and beat 63-year-old Craig Douglas Wolfe at the man’s North Bay Village apartment in June. A neighbor’s surveillance camera captured Lebarr coming and going from the apartment after the murder.
After leaving the apartment, authorities say Lebarr went to a UPS store and sent himself a package containing bloody clothes, a laptop that had belonged to Wolfe and other electronics police believe Lebarr bought with Wolfe’s money.
The Miami Herald (https://goo.gl/OUd7le) reports that detectives intercepted the package, which they believed Lebarr was using to hide evidence.
