WALLA WALLA, Wash. (AP) - A man who was a district court judge in Walla Walla in the 1990s will represent himself in a child pornography case.
John P. Junke appeared in Walla Walla Superior Court on Monday for a hearing. He’ll be arraigned later before an outside judge brought in to hear the case.
The 70-year-old was charged in December with possessing child pornography after sexual images of children were found on a computer he took to a repair shop.
The Union-Bulletin reports (https://bit.ly/K25pDb ) he could face more than six years in prison if convicted.
Junke served as a Walla Walla County District Court judge from 1991 through 1994. The lawyer resigned from the state Bar Association in 2004 to avoid being disbarred for having a romantic relationship with a client.
