CHICAGO (AP) - A former suburban Chicago high school soccer coach has been found not guilty of hazing and battery charges.

Michael Divincenzo (dih-vihn-SEHN’-zoh) of Elk Grove Village was coach at Maine West High School in Des Plaines. He had been accused in connection with hazing at the school. On Wednesday he was found not guilty and a Cook County judge dismissed a charge of failing to report alleged hazing.

Prosecutors had argued that Divincenzo created an environment that allowed alleged hazing to go on for years. Divincenzo’s defense attorneys have said the former coach didn’t participate and had no knowledge of the alleged incidents.
