NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Authorities say a police officer was injured after an SUV hit him and then drove off.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

The officer, whose name was not released, was treated at a hospital for a knee injury.



Police are looking for a gold TrailBlazer with a possible bullet hole in the passenger’s side of the vehicle.

Police say the officer shot at the vehicle after the driver hit him. It’s unknown if the bullet hit a passenger. Police say the vehicle was occupied by two males and one female.

Authorities did not provide any information about why the officer was approaching the SUV.
