HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Six people charged in connection with alleged bid rigging and influence peddling involving multimillion-dollar contracts at the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission are headed to trial this summer.

The Tribune-Review (https://bit.ly/1gNcwtN) said Dauphin County Judge Richard Lewis on Wednesday scheduled a mid-August trial for the six defendants, including ex-state Senate Democratic Leader Robert Mellow of Lackawanna County.

The other defendants are former turnpike chairman Mitch Rubin, former chief executive Joe Brimmeier, former chief operating officer George Hatalowich and two people who worked for vendors, Dennis Miller and Jeffrey Suzenski.

Two other defendants, both turnpike employees, are being prosecuted separately.
