After probe, Ore. prison superintendent reassigned

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - An Oregon prison superintendent put on leave during an investigation has been demoted and reassigned.

The Oregonian reports (https://bit.ly/1b4al0Y) that 61-year-old Rick Coursey is leaving the state’s Pendleton prison for what was described as a job working on special projects at the Snake River prison in Ontario.

The announcement came in an agency email from Corrections Department Director Colette Peters.

The department official who oversees eastern Oregon prisons, Steve Franke, put Coursey on paid leave Nov. 13. Department officials said the investigation was a personnel matter that didn’t involve misconduct.

Assistant Superintendent Bridgette Amsberry remains in charge of the Pendleton prison, the Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution.
