OPELOUSAS, La. (AP) - Sheriff’s deputies say a Northwest High School student in St. Landry Parish has been booked on one count of aggravated arson for allegedly setting a fire at school.

Capt. Megan Vizena said in a release received by The Advocate (https://bit.ly/1aklzBl ) the 17-year-old girl was arrested Friday after school administrators filed a complaint about a restroom fire.

Vizena said the suspect told deputies she started the fire because she was upset that she was forced to go to school.

The teen is being held in lieu of $7,500 bail in the St. Landry Parish Jail.

It is unclear whether the teen has an attorney.
