CAYCE, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina Electric & Gas is testing its siren warning systems for the Lake Murray Dam.

At around noon on Tuesday, the company says it will be testing the siren warning system for three minutes. Throughout the rest of the year, SCE&G is planning to test the system for one minute on the second Tuesday of each month.

The sirens are used to alert residents to tune into an Emergency Alert System radio or television station for information if there were a failure in the dam and the new backup dam at the lake west of Columbia.
