BIG RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - Morning classes in several buildings at Ferris State University are cancelled due to a power outage on the school’s Big Rapids campus.

The school says classes in Alumni, Automotive and the Prakken buildings are to resume about 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Day-shift workers in those buildings and in West Building should not report until 1 p.m. unless told otherwise by their supervisors.

The school says on its website that there were two unrelated power outages Monday. At least one of the outages occurred after a transformer failed. Ferris State University is about 50 miles north of Grand Rapids.

Power also was lost at some residence halls, student apartments and administrative buildings.
