MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A judge has ordered a new trial for man convicted in a murder-for-hire scheme.

Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge Charles Price issued an order Tuesday saying that juror misconduct prompted him to order a new trial for David Nash.

He was convicted of capital murder in the death of Ralph McNeil, an animal trapper also known as the “Critter Man.” Authorities have said Nash’s girlfriend was involved in a custody dispute with McNeil, her ex-boyfriend, which prompted the two to pay a pair of cousins approximately $9,000 to kill the man.

Judge Price said two jurors lied when the defense was selecting a panel.

Nash’s second trial is scheduled for May 19 and his bond has been set $1.2 million.
