MOSSOULA, Mont. (AP) - The strength and conditioning coach for the Montana football program has resigned after four seasons.
Coach Mick Delaney says Rob Oviatt (OH’-vee-ott) is leaving for personal reasons. Delaney says Tuesday he’s sorry to lose him, but understands the reasons.
Delaney says the fact that Montana players had only two season-ending injuries this year is a tribute to Oviatt and his staff.
Oviatt came to Montana in 2010 from Washington State University, where he served as the assistant athletic director for strength and conditioning from 2000-08. He has been a strength and conditioning coach at various universities for 33 years.
He is a member of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association and served as its president from 2004-08.
