EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - A new health endowment created under the overhaul of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is having its first meeting.
The meeting scheduled for Tuesday in East Lansing is expected to be organizational.
Nine people will oversee the Michigan Health Endowment Fund that’s expected to receive about $1.6 billion over 18 years.
A law signed last year to modernize Blue Cross required it to contribute the money to a foundation that will take on some of its charitable work. The money may be spent on infant mortality, wellness and fitness programs, and other areas.
