GOSHEN, N.Y. (AP) - Jury selection has begun for the murder trial of a Brooklyn rabbi charged in the shooting deaths of two men inside a vacant upstate New York home in 2010.
The Times Herald-Record of Middletown reports (https://bit.ly/1dsntCU ) that after a long series of delays in Victor Koltun’s case, jury selection began Monday in an Orange County court.
The 44-year-old Koltun was charged in the November 2010 shooting deaths of former Ulster County police officer Frank Piscopo and his nephew, Gerald Piscopo, who were found slain in the city of Newburgh.
Prosecutors say Koltun had business dealings with Frank Piscopo and was behind the murder-for-hire plot that led to the slayings.
Frank Lewis of Brooklyn and Craig Fennell of Manhattan pleaded guilty in 2011 to conspiracy charges and are serving prison terms.
