WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Wilmington police say an officer was dragged by a car after he tried to pull the driver from the vehicle.
It happened about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday on Lancaster Avenue. Police say officers saw a car traveling the wrong way on a one-way street. Authorities say officers stopped the car and ordered the driver to turn the ignition off.
Police say the driver tried to throw away bags of heroin and put the car into gear. Officials say the officer tried to pull the driver from the vehicle, but was dragged while the driver tried to push him away.
Police say the officer, who was not hurt, was able arrest the driver.
Twenty-seven-year-old Jeremy Selby of Wilmington has been charged with reckless endangering, possession of heroin and several other offenses.
