HOUSTON (AP) - Prosecutors say a Nigerian man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for conspiring to steal credit card reward points and then converting them into cash.

Olasunkanmi Shittu was sentenced Monday in federal court in Houston for defrauding about 25 people. The 42-year-old Shittu pleaded guilty in October to aggravated identity theft and other charges.

He will face deportation following the completion of his prison term.

Prosecutors say he and others stole credit card account information and other sensitive data from multiple people. Shittu used the information to access their accounts and steal reward points that were then transferred into cash and placed on debit cards for his use.
