RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Henrico County police say a 13-year-old student was taken into custody after bringing a gun to school.
Lt. Linda Toney says in a news release that Wilder Middle School was placed on lockdown around 11:40 a.m. Monday after administrators received information that a student might be armed. The student was found in the cafeteria with a loaded magazine in his pants pocket. An unloaded handgun was found in the student’s book bag elsewhere in the school.
Police say there were no reports that the gun was used in a threatening manner. The lockdown was lifted shortly after noon.
Charges were pending.
