DETROIT (AP) - Detroit’s public schools have scheduled events in their campaign to attract new students and stem enrollment losses.

The inaugural DPS High School-Career Tech Centers Fair will be held Saturday at Renaissance High School. It will showcase the programs of all high schools and career tech centers in the system.

Also, the district’s elementary and middle schools will observe Open Doors Day on Wednesday.

Both events seek to build on momentum from the district’s Summer Enrollment Campaign.

Available at the high school fair will be information about specialty programs, career pathways and scholarships, as well as the new Career Academy. It can help students gain skills in trades such as plumbing, pipefitting and carpentry.
