PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities have rescued the driver of a big rig that crashed through a guardrail in Gila County and was hanging off a bridge that spans the Salt River south of Phoenix.

Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say the driver of the semi-truck was airlifted to a Phoenix-area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

DPS says the big rig crashed on U.S. 60 shortly after noon Monday.

It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the crash and the driver’s name hasn’t been released.
