HOLYOKE, Mass. (AP) - Holyoke police say a suspect in custody fired shots at pedestrians crossing a local bridge.
The Republican reports (https://bit.ly/LMqi5j ) that the unidentified suspect is charged with possession of a firearm without a license and possession of ammunition without a firearms ID card.
Lt. Larry Cournoyer said the unidentified man was arrested after a standoff with police on the Veterans Bridge at about 9 p.m. Saturday. He says pedestrians on the bridge between Holyoke and South Hadley told police they were shot at.
Holyoke officers found the suspect on the bridge, holding a handgun at his side. Police say he refused orders to drop the gun and was disarmed by an officer who tackled him.
No one was hurt.
